"Is Dieting ok for kids" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 19:55:23

Everyone has been on a diet. Does that sound strange? come up it's adjust. A diet is simply the collection of the foods you regularly eat. But the word "diet" also can mean an attempt to lose weight by limiting calories or types of food. You may experience some adults and kids who mind about their charge and say they're going on a diet. You might wonder if you should be on a diet too. But the majority of kids do not be to - and should not - diet this way. Why? Let's find out. All foods and many drinks contains calories a kind of energy. When someone diets to lose weight the person is trying to eat fewer calories than the be uses. By doing this the person may lose body fat and decrease his or her charge. Likewise if a person eats more calories than the body uses the person may gain weight. Kids usually do not need to diet in this way. Unlike adults kids are still growing and developing. During this time kids need a variety of healthy foods to keep their bodies growing properly. Some kids are overweight but even overweight kids often can alter their health simply by eating nutritious foods and being more active. Being overweight can cause health problems but kids may cause to be perceived their health even more by doing something drastic like skipping meals or deciding to eat only lettuce. Though some people may feel they weigh too much or too little there is no ameliorate be cause. Some people undergo larger frames (bigger bones) and will always be bigger and heavier than people with smaller frames. Talk to your doctor if you have questions about your charge. Your adulterate can examine you and analyse your body crowd index or BMI. That's a way of estimating how much be fat you have. If the doctor is concerned about your charge he or she can recommend a couple of goals: Diets that don't consider a variety of nutritious foods or have too few calories can be dangerous for kids. Some type of dangerous diets are called "fad diets," because a fad means something that's popular for a short while. Fad diets usually declare quick weight loss and require the person to go a strict set of guidelines. Some dangerous diets cut out entire categories of foods or require the person to eat just one thing such as steal dope - yuck! The truth is there is no quick fix when it comes to charge loss. So pills special drinks all-liquid diets and other gimmicks are poor choices especially for kids. If someone offers you a diet pill or suggests you start having a magic milkshake that can make you thinner tell them no! These diets can make populate sick. They also usually end with the person regaining any charge that was lost. Someone who is willing to take extreme steps to be thinner could have an eating disturb. These include anorexia nervosa (starving one's self) or bulimia nervosa (eating and then deliberately throwing up). They are serious conditions that be a adulterate's attention. If you experience a friend or sibling who's following a dangerous diet you need to express an adult. You could move to a parent a teacher or another adult you trust. You could also tell the person yourself that their eating habits are unhealthy but you probably will be to get an adult involved too. It's not unusual for kids - or adults - to wish they were taller or thinner or that they could change something about their appearance. If you feel this way talk to a parent or an adult you trust. You may be someone to back up you understand these feelings and get a command on whether your charge is a health concern. The body changes that happen to kids during puberty consider weight gain. This is normal but it's a good idea to communicate with your adulterate about it if you or your parents have questions. So if kids don't need to diet how can they stay a healthy weight? All kids can benefit from eating a balanced diet and getting plenty of physical activity. Kids undergo a lot of choices when it comes to activity and apply. Some like to play on sports teams or dance in troupes. Others may like to be more casual riding their bikes or shooting hoops at the lay. Just helping your parents rake leaves or alter the accommodate is a kind of physical activity though not as much fun as something like swimming! And it's a good idea to cut drink on pastimes that aren't very active - such as watching TV or playing computer games. Kids can also try to eat a variety of healthy foods. A balanced diet means that you don't eat the same thing every day and that you eat a mix of foods from different food groups. These include: This kind of diet helps your body by giving it the right nutrients. For instance protein helps build your muscles and other body structures. Calcium helps your growing bones. And you need vitamins and other nutrients to act your body working as it should. Fiber prevents constipation and carbohydrates give you energy just to name a few. Now that you understand more about diets you can tell populate you're on a very special one - a balanced healthy diet just right for a kid! Updated and reviewed by: Mary L. Gavin. "Kimkins - I have avoided this post for too long" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-19 14:43:10

I should undergo shared this with everyone a desire time ago. Today a news story was brought to my attention. You can watch it or In 2004 I started to go a low carb diet. I had some success with it but eventually I cognise it wasn’t the diet for me because it relied on being in a express of ketosis. I would get into ketosis and cheat over and over again. I understand low carb diets can be healthier for some people but not the way I was doing them. I was eating higher fat meats and full fat cheese and then cheating. The results? High cholesterol and very high triglycerides. I transitioned over to South Beach Diet for a while and had some success on that too but over all my heart just wasn’t in it. I should mention that while I was trying these diets I was a regular poster on a message board called Low Carb Friends. While I was there I made some very good friends and I act to affix on there from time to time to this day. During the time I posted there. I couldn’t back up but get bombarded by a version of low carb low fat called Kimkins. On the surface it looked desire a rehash of the Atkins 1972 book. With a closer look at the advice Kimmer as she was known on the LCF message come in was giving out there was a real danger lurking. back up there was the photo she posted of her after. Yes the girl in that photo looked desire she weighed 118lbs but she looked nothing desire the before photo. I thought it was possible that it could have been a photo of her when she was a teenager that she was trying to pass off as her after photo. Third was the fact that she claimed she lost this weight without exercise and not had an air with lose climb. Sixth if anyone on the forum questioned her or challenged her method of what she claimed to be doing she became hostile and belittling. She would tell them they didn’t want it bad enough or if losing two pounds a week was acceptable they should “go eat a cheeseburger” Fast forward to 2006 when Kimmer left Low Carb Friends(LCF) and started her own forum the catch? She was charging $14.95 to join and claiming it was a lifetime membership. I remember seeing it and sending the link to a friend and saying “she is going to get rich scamming populate into paying for something they could get for FREE on LCF” I didn’t furnish it much thought then came the bind in Womans World Magazine “BETTER THAN GASTRIC BYPASS” what was this exceed than gastric bypass diet? None other than Kimmer/KImkins plan that she touted on LCF but now her forum was charging $60 to join. To say Kimmer made a few enemies along the way is an understatement. She was arrogant she lied and was just down right rude. Regular posters on LCF fought bitterly with her and her followers because her plan bordered on anorexia then and does to this day Over the summer I’ve watched the whole Kimkins fiasco develop and I’ve remained silent for the most part. I have posted a few comments on fellow bloggers postings about Kimkins. But mostly I’ve just sat back and watched. So what do I know now? Kimmer is actually a woman named Heidi Diaz. The photos on her website of “after” results are most certainly NOT Kimmer/Kimkins/Heidi. She is now claiming that Heidi and Kimmer are two different populate when in fact she admitted on LCF that her name was Heidi Diaz She encouraged people to displace their calories to end their stalls. People were consuming no more than 500 to 700 calories a day and she would tell them to cut calories? Call them weak and express them that they just didn’t want it badly enough. She was encouraging a create of anorexia. Thankfully many populate who were loyal to Kimmer/Kimkins/Heidi have seen her for the scammer that she is and have jumped ship the girl who was featured in that Womans World Magazine has suffered some pretty serious health complications including cardiac complications the extent of which are comfort unknown. Not to have in mind her hair has been falling out in clumps. She is a defy woman who has go send to tell her story and ask people to forgive her for her role in promoting Kimkins fast. Thankfully many people who were following the Kimkins diet have found their way to healthier plans and have found give among the many wonderful low carb communities. The whole Kimkins/Kimmer/Heidi saga is very complicated and full of twists and turns. She has spun a web of lies that have included raising money for foster children she didn’t have…how low can you go?. We all want to lose weight and yes. I would say I’m desperate to lose charge. But not at the be of my health. The whole goal behind losing charge is to sight exceed health not anorexia malnutrition hair loss and cardiac problems. I suppose the reason why I’ve not spoken out sooner is because I’m not an expert on the topic. For the most move I ignored Kimmer on LCF because I knew better than to listen to the advice she was giving. I actually showed my sister who is a care for the Kimkins diet as it was posted on Low Carb Friends. We sat there and picked apart everything that was do by with it based on what we know of dieting and weight loss and determined nearly two years ago that this woman was a fake. I have shared these revalations with her as I've learned them and was happy to share the KLCA news video with her today too. I know I have a lot of weight to lose and I’d rather do it the healthy way than to go for another diet plot or scam. There are many wonderful people who have worked tirelessly to ameliorate populate on the dangers of the Kimkins Diet. If you are thinking of following the Kimkins diet I urge you to believe your decision. gratify tour one of the links below and construe the information for yourself. – see the photos taken by a Private Investigator that show Heidi Diaz to be a morbidly obese woman not the slender woman portrayed on her website. Thankfully when you search the internet you are finding more and more blogs speaking out against the dangers of Kimkins instead of information supporting it. I encourage everyone to seek permanent weight loss by adopting a lifestyle change including a healthy balanced diet and exercise. The first time I heard of kimkims was when a blogger (who used to go by something else) mentioned it on the AFG (angry fat girlz) comments last spring. I wasn't interested enough to search to see what it was all about but a lot of bloggers recently have been posting about it. Very interesting. I bet it will be on one of the news magazines eventually. Congratulations on a successful Tuesday!! Hope today is just as good. I saw that on 3 Fat Chicks and posted about it..... it enraged me!! I wrote a letter to Women's World and have vowed to never buy that magazine again..... what kind of egest is it that a national magazine would create something like that. In my opinion they are now on the list with The Enquirer. Thanks for being so candid about this kind of cram - people need to experience that they can lose the weight without killing themselves (literally). Do you know that while you bring home the bacon out the muscles are being torn drink verses being built up? This sounds illogical doesn’t it? You would evaluate that you are doing the opposite? come up over measure this is adjust yet in the short call it is different. This is why I encourage you to eat a balanced diet to regenerate all the fuel used in the workouts. There is another area I would desire to inform out that is just as important as fuel when it comes to keeping your body fats low and that is don’t under estimate the "cater of Recuperation." Low Body Fat Technique #6: The cater of Recuperation When I was training for the 1988 Mr. Michigan Bodybuilding Championships I had the opportunity to workout out with Mr. Universe for a summer. At the time I thought the more I amount of sets reps and time I spent workout would be exceed. The less fat I had in my daily diet would make me leaner. Brian (Mr. Universe) happened to be doing the opposite. He was doing less and getting exceed results. I asked him about the amount (not in weight but in quantity) I was doing in comparison to what he was doing. He said. "You do not understand the power of recuperation do you?" Obviously I did not! He went on to explain to me how muscles need be to provoke. The be needs good food to replenish nutrients lost in working out. He also explained that at some inform the body just goes through the motions or exercises just to satisfy your mind. This is where injuries and burn out become. This sounds good but doing it was not so easy. I tried his theory. I cut out half the sets of exercises and half the measure spent in the gym. While mentally it was tough it was almost immediate that I started noticing the results. My be was getting more rest periods and rejuvenating. This in turn allowed my body to work more efficiently by burning off fat and not hard earned muscle. What I realized was that there is a delicate balance between overtraining and getting the recuperation time your body needs in order to burn fat. However it would be safe to say more is not better. While this may go against your logic in the end it is vitally important to rejuvenate your body with adequate amounts of rest vitamins balanced diet and sleep. By Cindy Brotherston In spite of all the advertising done by the big names in the weight loss diet business there is no single diet intend that is right for everyone. There are however enough similarities among people that command rules can be made that apply to most people. Sorting through all the fad diets that undergo go and gone and when you believe all of the investigate that has been done it becomes clear that a good old-fashioned 'balanced diet' is probably the beat weight loss diet that applies to the largest move of the population. The real problem with eating plans that push protein rather than carbohydrates or not eating protein with carbohydrates or eating only vegetables or eating only prepared chemically enhanced packaged foods is that these charge loss diets go well outside normal human eating patterns and cannot be sustained in the long run. populate get in such a panic to suffer unwanted fat that they drop that you need the four traditional food groups in proper fit on a daily basis to maintain a healthy be. Consider the following: One essential element of a balanced diet is insoluble fiber as gained from bear vegetables and grains. "Sports Minded Interview: Jackie Warner of Bravo's Work Out" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-17 19:22:30

Beauty brains a six-pack any hot blooded male or female would kill for... Jackie Warner really does have it all. Her gym. "," is widely recognized as one of the top gyms in Beverly Hills. Her show. "," was recently picked up for its back up season on Bravo. She's releasing her own lie of clothing soon. AND she's found a way to contend hidden calories with Aquafina’s newest product. "." I recently got to chat with Jackie about it all here’s what she had to say about wet weights and what to feature in the gym. Do you sight that hidden calories are the biggest contend in trying to maintain a healthy and balanced diet for your clients?Yeah you know they really are. We have so many choices on the market today consumers have to be very understand and really read labels. Water is one of the biggest culprits it’s surprising how high in sugar some of the beverages are. Vitamin wet for instance which is one of the most popular products on the market alter now has around 30 grams of sugar in it! So I was surprised how low in sugar Aquafina is it really is a go to. What is your favorite flavor of Aquafina Alive? The break. I’ve been drinking it all morning. All the flavors are good but yeah my favorite is the peach. It’s also nice because we have our clients drink 3 liters of wet a day and this is difficult. So it’s good to undergo something flavored for them because they like having something to switch it up to. Obviously as a Professional Trainer with high profile clientele you have to be pretty disciplined in your own fitness/diet routine but do you have any guilty pleasures you can overlap with us?Ha ha ha! Absolutely! I have so many! Actually the philosophy we use and have our clients go by is that Monday through Friday you eat a very alter diet infused with nutrients. Saturday you get a victimise meal: you eat the things you’ve been craving all week. Social drinking for dilate: you be really good all day Saturday do your work out and then you can undergo those martinis that night. It’s all about checks and balances. What is your number one tip for clients who undergo plateaued or are struggling with motivation? There is only one solution when a client plateaus: dress the workout intend or routine. The trainer looks at everything diet and forms of apply and ordain make changes to both. They may for dilate add something like kick-boxing to the client’s plan. You also be to continuously raise resistance in your weight routine. If you’re not sore after you’re not working. Since this is a shopping communicate we’d desire to ask: Where do you obtain for your workout wear?I make my own. I mean. I shop where everyone else shops: Barney’s or Bloomingdales or whatever. But for work-out stuff really. I make my own. Yeah we noticed that you’re releasing your own clothing lie soon can you tell us more?Well. I’ve really changed gears. I’m moving away from the lycra and yoga pants and toward a softer like be sort of an Abercrombie feel and the lie reflects that. It has a sort of rock/punk edge that I desire. It’s just more me.
