HRC's Buddies Hit the Campaign Trail: Introduces Long Term Care Plan

Posted by ~Ray @ 2008-10-10 03:25:12

HRC's "buddies" as she called them her mother. Dorothy Rodham who is is 88 years old and her daughter. Chelsea who is 27 years old hit the campaign trail on Friday and Saturday. "We're getting close to the caucuses. I always think it's better to go to the caucuses with a buddy. Today. I've got some buddies with me...". HRC said. The focus of her speeches on Friday and Saturday were women and long-term care. HRC announced her plan for tax breaks for long-term health care. She is pledging a $3,000 tax credit for care giving and a long-term care insurance tax credit. HRC also vowed to improve the quality of care and require background checks for workers in long-term facilities and focused on the financial weight of families faced with caring for elderly parents and relatives. Finally she pledged $300 million yearly to support unpaid family caregivers'. HRC said that her family is able to care for her mother as she ages. HRC feels fortunate the her mother lives with her and the Big Dog. Hillary couldn't let the day pass without getting a dig in at the Repugs. Hillay said. "I will wage a winning campaign. The Republicans are not going to walk away from the White House without a fight.. one thing you know about me is they've been after me for 15 years and I'm still here." Repugs are shaking in the boots and are rooting for Barry to win the DEM nomination. I watched a bit of the Oprah/Barry concert and a couple of Repugs called in and said they were considering supporting Barry. I bet they are! HRC's mother comes out to support her daughter and media-shy Chelsea comes out to stomp for her mother. This was a nice story and gave me goose bumps. My mother passed away when I was 5 years old and I haven't been blessed with any children yet. I am sure HRC felt safe and secure with her family standing there by her side. Its either Obama shoots off like a rocket or the late decider 's break towards Clinton. If after today Obama can't pull away in Iowa and draw even in New Hampshire and pull away in South Carolina then I seriously think he wouldn't be able to close the sale. In other words if the poll numbers stay the same i e. Clinton still leading in NH,SC and tied in Iowa then the story line is he failed to close the deal. The polls are NOT going to change THAT MUCH because Obama has already received the "Oprah Bump" in the past 2 weeks. Even if the polls did move 1 way or the other it doesnt matter because the vote does not take place until next year. In 2004 the only polls that counted were the ones the WEEKEND before the caucus............. that would be sometime late december or early january this time. "If after today Obama can't pull away in Iowa and draw even in New Hampshire and pull away in South Carolina then I seriously think he wouldn't be able to close the sale." Agreed lori this is do or die for him. However. I do predict a slight increase in the polls for Barry after this is all over. I don't think the polls will shoot to the sky by no means but a slight increase. I'm actually looking forward to the last 3 debates. HRC will be on fire! The event was live on CSPAN and the room was completely PACKED even when Obama was speaking. The Hillary "wicked stepsisters" are pathetic. Over 18,000 people came to the event and no matter what you hateful people say it was SUCCESSFUL. a lot of people are underestimating the potential impact of this oprah event on the negative end for obama if the next batch of polls come out at the end of the week and nothing has changed he didn't close the sale and hillary clinton is teflon. I am under no illusions about Oprah's power as I personally have not missed an oprah show for as long as I can remember and I am one of her biggest fans infact if I was in any of the early states I won't have missed the events even as a hillary supporter but the reality is if the polls remain the same then its bad news for Obama and good news for Clinton. did you see her interview cormac maccarthy?I tried like crazy to catch that and missed it hes my favorite writer - i think the best living - and this was only the second one he ever gave in 40 years. Now thats impressive. I dont watch these shows no offense meant. I think the only one I saw was the one with Hllary durng her book tour - when she had her Mom Mrs R on with her. It was friendly and sweet. 'Stayed out of our primaries?' That's a big pup-tent you've got there. Seymour. Oprah was in on this from the beginning when she endorsed Obama before he declared: Look Shawn this is your candidate's weekend and all the free press is great. I'm with lori. I can't wait for this weekend to be over and Oprah can go back to her show and we can get back to the politicking of it all. You people act like Oprah's some of God as well. Next thing you'll be interpreting her comments and actions as iamready aka Slim. As lori said some of those people were star struck and went to see Oprah and in that they saw Barry. Give it rest for God's Sakes. Hey fair's fair. I'm not a big Oprah fan myself but Seymour was giving her curry which was unwarranted. I think the bulk of popular culture is the biggest load of crap disdain sports (it's so.. vapid and pointless) and haven't read anything much but non-fiction for twenty years not counting the classics. If it was left up to me Oprah would be broke or in other employ. I only know who she is from hearsay. But she stands with Obama so I stand with her. You guys have been leading in the polls and rubbing our noses in Hillary's nobility for ten months the least we can do now is be gracious and give you all a lesson on how real winners behave. I don't agree. Seymour was exposing Oprah for being anti-union and Barry's unspoken support for it. I thought it was a great diary. Very interesting considering I had no idea about Oprah non-union camp. Will the media touch this one? Probably not but they should. She should have stayed out of our primaries - since she wont even identify herself as a Democrat she should stay out of our dialogue. That's not only ungracious it isn't the 'big tent' we hear so much about. Since when do you grow support by telling people to piss off? Democrat's don't want her viewers' votes? If liberty and equality as is thought by some are chiefly to be found in democracy they will be best attained when all persons alike share in the government to the utmost. A little melodramatic Shawn. Seymour is entitled to his opinion. Me personally. I think it's perfectly fine for Oprah to show support and campaign with her choice for Prez. Barry. However now that she's stepped in the world of politics she shouldn't be surprised when people question her views and position. Unions? Votes for Repugs? Fair game! The easiest way to learn HTML is to use the 'view source' option in your browser to examine what other people have done that's a good way to learn the complex stuff. Simple formatting like I did is easy: You can use any combination of italic bold blockquotes nested within each other but the start and end tags must be in the correct order they work in pairs. Have fun. Once you get the hang of it you can do lots of cool stuff. Hillary goes with the quiet cozy family-oriented theme. High on substance and low on style. Small venues and face-to-face with Iowans. From 'Chicago':Give 'em the old razzle dazzleRazzle Dazzle 'emGive 'em an act with lots of flash in itAnd the reaction will be passionateGive 'em the old hocus pocusBead and feather 'emHow can they see with sequins in their eyes? Bill Clinton visited an ALL BLACK organization in South Carolina. Hillary is stooping to new lows in order to get votes including the black racist vote. Obamas campaigned WITH his wife......... Hillary and her husband are seperated. What family are you talking about? Listen allmiview you got your weekend. This is Obama's weekend. Shouldn't you be happy? Why do you seem so bitter and angry? The media is covering Obama. Hillary and Edwards are taking the backseat this weekend. Today Bill Clinton made a campaign stop on behalf of his wife at an ALL BLACK sorority fishing for votes. If any other candidates spouse visited an ALL WHITE sorority fishing for votes there would be a major problem with that. For Hillary supporters to attack Obama because he did not bring his mother on the campaign trail is disgusting. Obama's mother DIED of cancer when she was 53 years old. Obama's sister campaigns for him and so does his wife. His daughters are too young to campaign. Why did Hillary decide this weekend to drag her 83 year old mother and 27 year old daughter on the campaign trail? For politcal purposes only she knew Obama was planning an appearance with Oprah so she wanted to try and steal some of the headlines. She only does things for political purposes. allmiview. I don't think you understand that Oprah's endorsement and event this weekend is bigger booster than Bill in SC or Hillary with her family in Iowa. You shouldn't be so angry. You ought to sit back and enjoy the ride. This is a very big event for Obama. As for your accusation that Hillary supporters are attacking Obama for not trotting out his dead mother is just bizaar. Who are you speaking of specifically? ask the Hillary supporters they are the ones that seem to think Hillary benefits from campaigning with her mother and daughter while her husband is off by himself doing god knows what. America has had enough of that family. We need new people in the white house not the same old Clintons that led to the ELECTION of George Bush. Voting for the same old people thinking you are going to get different results is crazy. I think that was a smart decision. Oprah is iconic and she always does things in a big way. Hillary would not have been able to compete with anything as grand this weekend. The thing about Hillary is that the press always wants to know what she's doing. So even though Obama has Oprah and that is where the hype is the MSM is going to report on Hillary to compare and contrast. Showing her being low key but engaged takes away the potential bitchy headline by the MSM that she went head to head with O and O and lost. As far as this giving Obama a boost. I don't really know. He certainly get the media attention this weekend but how will it translate? The thought seems to be that people will vote for Obama based on Oprah's recommendation the same way that people buy a book or hand cream she recommends. I'm genuinely curious to see that correlation. "Showing her being low key but engaged takes away the potential bitchy headline by the MSM that she went head to head with O and O and lost." Agreed Kingstongirl. The story is being carried on all the major and cable outlets. You eloquently explained what HRC's strategy was this weekend. I think most will pick up on it. I can't wait until monday when the pundits come out contrasting the two events. Chris Matthews is going to have a heart attack. HRC knows what she is doing. Don't forget about Bill visiting many small venues in SC. Very smart indeed. and I would have paid good money to see Chelsea. Its so nice to see the family standing next to her supporting her. I am sure most of the people at the event were very moved. I am also sure that most of the people at "the O" were disappointed that they received no free car. Oh well another rally another chance to win a car while still supporting HIllary for President!!! It is impossible to top the media buzz that a media star will created but Clinton did just about the absolute best job you could. Chelsea and her mom coming out made sure that right below the Oprah story there was the Clinton story. Furthermore it undercut Obama in a very suble way. Obama imports star who he has recently come to know. Clinton brings in family. Not only that she brings in very popular (among many Democrats) family. Her daughter who many Democrats have regarded warmly since youthful days in the White House. I agree. I thought Hillary having her daughter and mother join her was perfect pitch for Iowa especially in contrast the the glitz and media fever of the Oprah rally. I agree. I also thought family Clinton formed the perfect counterpoint to Obama who has benefited greatly in Iowa from his low key. "its-just-me" no fuss style of campaigning. With Oprah you got to see the one of the powers behind the throne. Oprah's appearance was like a gale force that blew open what has heretofore been portrayed as Obama's solitary and heroic effort. Put another way its a bit like thinking you are watching an absorbing documentary about the heroic solitary efforts an Everest mountaineer only to suddenly see a snow blower and a fancy camera crew in a helicopter filming from on high. Oprah was a little out of balance with the presentation of Obama in Iowa. South Carolina however as a different matter and there Obama definitely seemed to have scored a coup.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
