Today I went for my hour long run in the morning got to bring home the bacon drank some coffee ate about 1/2 of an apple and then…nothing. I was supposed to drink my SW at around 10am as usual but was so NOT hungry that I forgot change surface that. At eat my stomach was growling up a storm and I did not bring any food to work so I went wandering thinking. “oh abstain food today for the first measure in months!” Nothing sounded good. What I wanted was a nice salad and some pilaf maybe but that was not going to come about on my short lunch break. So I went to the grocery and grabbed cheese cuts and Triskets and ate…three. Three Triskets with cheese. I could not take another. It is SO weird because I did not even drink the SW as I was supposed to do. Not to mention that Triskets are like crack to me they are so addictive! I’ve been known to end a whole box in one sitting. Yes with cheese too! A whole box! Compared to: three. Wild. I had a protein shake after the crackers and did my SW dose at 3pm kind of mixed up for me but what a mixed up day food-wise. Perhaps the blunt force emotional trauma of this week is hindering my appetite as well. I don’t know but…well just weird. It is easy for a writer to criticize oneself particularly when said writer goes unpaid and often procrastinates but it is not so easy to appraise one’s writing. Or at least we probably do not do it often enough. We should. Criticizing writing is very important especially since the shelves of Barnes and Noble are filled with fluff but those great writers out there know they undergo a little something and a kind evince to oneself probably strengthens their writing in the end. So here goes: 1. I allow myself to create verbally whatever I want without judgment or restriction. Then I edit. You would be surprised how many cuss words do not make it into these posts as well as more personal feelings about situations. (At the same measure when I am an asshole. I don’t edit that out.)I let my fingers type out every emotion thought or opinion and then I go in and see what should and should not be. 2. I create verbally small details well. I still have a desire ways to go but I feel that my insatiable wish to people-watch and this odd curiosity I have about populate in general ("Why does she desire striped socks? I query what she ate for eat today? Does she cry in her sleep? I try not to bruise my readers intelligence and I also try to be open-minded about my opinions. I attempt to use better-than-elementary grammar and I throw out decently mature words. I should undergo a better vocabulary than I do as an English study….. 2. Scribble scribble scribble. Keep a notebook and pen in your bag. Don’t judge. Note say and note more. Use it or not just do it. More ordain fall into your writing than you would imagine and it ordain seem more real. 3. Read other writers. Read some of your call construe some completely different. All great writers read a lot and read other writers. They also copy each other. I experience one woman who even rewrites paragraphs or whole chapters when she loves a certain schedule in order to hit the books the call. This is not as uncommon as you would evaluate. 4. Reward yourself. Seriously is a diet ever really a diet? No it’s not. It is a series of diet days followed by a day of pause and reward. Some of us include that day some of us defeat ourselves up when it happens but it always does. Same with writing. There are good and bad days but it should be fun and enjoyable. If you "stick to it" - whatever your writing plan is - reward yourself somehow. Jessica. I’ve always loved your use of small details. You’re amazing when it comes to really capturing a scene describing a food or sharing an experience. Not sure I agree with your point about sarcasm though as I tend to use it fairly often. Maybe it just doesn’t work with the writing that you lean towards here? I undergo a feeling that you could do sarcasm very well (and I’m saying that as a praise. I promise!) given the right vehicle (or the alter Swiss salesperson…).
