Seventeen South Dakota schools will share $71,521 in grants supporting nutrition and physical activities for school and out-of-school programs. South Dakota is one of 10 states that received a $100,000 Health Kids give directed for child obesity prevention in July. Local programs receiving a grant are: Belle Fourche Area Community Center. Camp Oasis Out of School Time program. $3,342; Belle Fourche Public Schools. Extension Service Kid Quest program. $4,430; Rapid City School District fitness equipment and nutrition education. $2,335; Rapid City Youth and Family Services Inc. OST implement Girls and Mothers Excelling through Sports program. $4,250; and Spearfish. Lutheran Social Services. Canyon Hills bear on exercise equipment and repairs. $4,934.
